Identification:
Long neck with white front, black back. Long yellow to orange. Black cap with black not extending below eye, and more white on flanks than Western.
Distribution:
Breed in western United States, winter along the Pacific Coast. Year-round resident in central Mexico and California.
Cool Facts:
Clark’s Grebes perform an incredible courtship display in which a pair of birds runs across the water side by side, bodies lifted near vertical, neck and wings outstretched.
