Distribution:
Resident of a small area of prairie in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.
Cool Facts:
The Lesser Prairie Chicken is listed as a federally threatened species. Populations declines are largely the result of loss of its native prairie habitat.
The species name pallidicinctus refers to the lighter coloration (“pallid”) of this species compared to the Greater Prairie Chicken.
