Identification:
Similar to female Mallard, but with a buffy throat and yellow bill. Male and female Mottled Ducks look similar.
Distribution:
Extremely limited range, breeding only along the Gulf Coast of the United States.
Cool Facts:
Despite its small range, the Mottled Duck has two distinct sub-populations: one along the Gulf of Mexico from Alabama westward, and another in central and south Florida.
