Long tail and legs. Black body. White head and neck adorned with black cap and spotting/barring on chest. Bare facial skin colored orange to red.

The Crested Caracara resembles a vulture with its bare facial skin and appetite for carrion, but it is technically considered a falcon. The name “caracara” comes from the South American Tupian languages, imitating the bird’s call.
