Dark overall with dark rump and long forked tail. Long wings with distinct carpal bar.
Distribution:
Nests off southern California and Baja California. During winter, found along the Pacific Coast of North America from California to Ecuador.
Cool Facts:
Black Storm-Petrels and their relatives have delicate legs not meant for long walks on the beach, and can manage little more than a shuffle on land. These birds come to shore only briefly to raise their chicks, or when blown off course by storms.
