Identification:
Light undersides. Back light gray with distinctive pattern of dark and light gray on wings. Neat dark cap.
Distribution:
Nest on the Poor Knights Islands in New Zealand, primarily Aorangi and Tawhiti Rahi. During the summer and fall nonbreeding season, found along the west coast of North America.
Cool Facts:
Buller’s Shearwater and their relatives nest in burrows on remote oceanic islands. Both the male and female help to excavate the burrow.
