Identification:
Male is dark gray black tail, tipped in light gray. Bare skin on side of neck, reddish to orange.
Distribution:
Resident interior western North America from northern New Mexico to Alaska.
Cool Facts:
The Dusky Grouse was formerly considered the same species as the Sooty Grouse, together known as Blue Grouse.
