Male has distinctive green sideburns and white forehead, with a black rump/tail. Female has a similar brown mask.

Summer resident into far northern Alaska and Canada. Winter resident in southern US, Mexico, and northern South America.

Cool Facts:

American Wigeons may also be referred to as Baldpate Ducks, owing to the white “bald” patch on their heads.
