Identification:
Dark brown back and neck with clean white belly. Bill pointed, light yellow. Feet yellow. Pacific subspecies has pale head.
Distribution:
Found in tropical waters around the world. In North America, breeds as far north as extreme southern California in the Pacific, and southern Florida in the Atlantic.
Cool Facts:
Brown Boobies are widespread throughout the tropics. These birds and their relatives have totipalmate feet, meaning all four toes are connected by webbing, as compared to a duck’s palmate feet with only three webbed toes.
