Distribution:
Nest in Canada and north central United States. Winter in the US southwest and along the Gulf Coast from Florida to the Yucatan.
Cool Facts:
American White Pelicans are one of the largest flying birds in North America, sporting a wingspan as wide as 9.5 feet and weighing up to a whopping 20 pounds. Parents must provide each chick with roughly 150 pounds of fish before they are developed enough to forage on their own.
