Identification:

Dark above and white below, with white head intersected by thick dark eye stripe. In flight, wings are relatively long and kinked.

Cool Facts:

Ospreys are the only hawk (and one of few bird species) that have zygodactyl feet, meaning two toes point forward and two can point back. This extra dexterity, along with spiny soles on the pads of their feet, allow these fish eaters to hang on to their slippery prey.
